Attending therapy for the first time can be nerve racking. But scheduling a consultation helps with the introduction of the therapist and the client. Although a consultation is NOT THERAPY, the consultation can serve as a platform for the introduction. Keep in mind that the introduction will also take place during the initial diagnostic evaluation.
Your therapist is going to get familiar with your presenting problem after reading your intake questionnaire. This initial review helps them prepare your first session before your arrival, so you receive the best treatment possible to fit your need and meet your expectations.
You get to choose which type of therapy setting you would like to attend for your sessions. Each situation is unique, and your therapist will be able to meet with you to help you determine the best options.
